6.1 Preferences - General

General: The General tab allows you to set properties related to basic operations.

6.1.1 General Settings and Reset

To display the General tab ☞Click the GOM menu or Right button on mouse, and then click the Preferences...


- Reset all settings to default
- Start Configuration Wizard


- Always on top: Always place GOM on top (Ctrl + A)
- On top while playing: Place GOM on top while playing (Ctrl + T)
- Show subtitles : If there are subtitles available, it will show on the screen. (Alt+H)
- Show messages : Option to show control messages such as Play, Seeking, Stop etc
- Auto tagged <BR> when processing SMI subtitle: Auto-start a subtitle on a new line
  when the sentence is too long.
- Automatically sort files when added : Files will automatically sort themselves
  when added to list.
- Open similar files: Option to add similar files to Playlist
- Hide the most recently loaded folder : Files will always open from a specific folder
  (My Documents).
- Play from the latest point : Has the ability to play from the point that you left off.
- View as a tray icon : When minimized, there will be an icon on the tray.
  (bottom right of monitor)
- Launch multiple GOM Players : Able to open multiple GOM Players at one time.
- Paused when minimized : When the player is minimized, the video will be automatically
  paused.

The reset button can be a solution

When you use GOM, you may meet some problems such as malfunction, disappeared subtitle etc. In this case, just click the Reset button. It's easy and simple way but quite powerful to solve the problems.

Under Preferences (F5) in the ‘Skins’ tab, you will be able to change your skin.

6.1.5 [Mouse] Tab

You can hotkey different settings to your mouse.

Example:
‘Left button – double click’ can be set to ‘Full Screen’

6.1.6 [Keyboard] Tab

You can also hotkey different settings to your keyboard.

Example:
To set the number ‘3’ key to control ‘Brightness’ for your video, you should:

From the keyboard tab, click on the ‘Add’ key. From the drop down menu, find ‘VOLUME_Increase Brightness [R]. Then select the number key ‘3’ to create the shortcut. Then press ‘OK’

☞ Now, every time you click on ‘3’ the brightness will gradually increase each time you press the hotkey.

6.1.7 [Update] Tab

 

GOM can notify you about major/minor updates automatically.
